Abstract


Nowadays, people like to use cosmetic to improve their confidence and take care of their body. Moreover, one of Indonesian women’s beauty standards is having a fair white skin. This thing causes a lot of skin whitening products in beauty market. Knowledge level is one of the factors that influence the accuracy of selection of skin whitening products. The objective of this research is to determine the correlation between the level of knowledge and accuracy of skin whitening products selection. The research method is observational analytic with cross sectional design. The amount of sample needed was 100 respondents based on inclusion criteria. Sample was taken with consecutive sampling method and was done in University of Brawijaya Malang campus area. The instrument used was questionnaire which contained demographic data, knowledge level, and selection of skin whitening products. The correlation test that was used is Spearman test. The correlation coefficient and significancy obtained were 0,003 and 0,975. Based on the research’s result, it can be concluded that correlation between the level of knowledge and accuracy of skin whitening products selection is very weak and not significant
