Abstract


Indonesia is a nation consisting of many tribes, languages, religions, and beliefs. This plurality is an opportunity to enrich ideas for increased development. However, this diversity, if not properlymanaged, can threaten unity. One of the severe threats to this nation is conflict between citizens ofdifferent religions and beliefs with one another. One way to reduce potential matches based ondifferences in religion and belief is through religious moderation. Religious moderation aims to instill 1  and develop understanding and understanding of people of different faiths so that they can maintainthe spirit of unity in diversity. North Sulawesi is an area whose inhabitants have various types ofreligions and beliefs. This study aims to find and determine the priority factors for developingreligious moderation in North Sulawesi using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and FuzzyAnalyticHierarchyProcess(Fuzzy-AHP)approaches.Theresultsshowedthatthecriterionofbeing
honestincommunicatingandacknowledgingthetruthofotherreligionswasthehighest(26.3%).
Overall,thesub-criteriaforinterpersonalcommunicationandcooperationinthepublicinterestwere
thehighest,respectively(7.8%)and(7.4%).ThisstudyprovesthattheAHPandFuzzy-AHPmethods
areappropriateformulti-criteriadecision-makingtodeterminepriorityfactors.Theresultsofthis
studyarebeneficialfordecision-makersregardingreligiousmoderationinincreasingcooperation
communicationandpromotingpeaceandharmonyincoexistencebetweenpeopleofdifferentbeliefs.
