This study aims to describe students' attitudes when speaking in an academic context and how they apply their attitudes in their speaking in an academic context. The design of this study was a descriptive qualitative method. The sample of this study included fourth students from the English department of FKIP Universitas Islam Riau Pekanbaru. The total number of respondents is 25 students. The data collection was done through questionnaire survey and interview according to the five-point Likert scale. The questionnaire is made up of 3o statements. The results show that students have a positive attitude towards English, especially when speaking in an academic context. Most students agree that speaking English well will help them communicate with others in an academic setting. Most of the children said that they were proud of their English learning in class. They feel happy and excited to speak English with others and they enjoy giving their opinion in an academic context course.
