Abstract


Having a lot of vocabulary in learning English as a foreign language is one of the keys to get confident in conveying the message either in the written or in the spoken forms. This study aimed at designing an Islamic vocabulary book for English students at Islamic University and finding out the influence of using Islamic vocabulary book to improve English students’ vocabulary. This study employed Research and Development method (R&D) with ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The book was validated by two experts. Meanwhile, the pre-test and post-test were given to the second semester students of English Education Department to measure the improvement of English students’ vocabulary. The result showed that the Islamic vocabulary book was feasible to use for enhancing English students’ vocabulary. This could be seen from the result of post test that showed enhancement compared to the result of pre-test.
