This study will analyze and investigate language in education in Timor Leste. In particular, it is intended to examine the national laws and decree laws that regulate the implementation of language in education, such as national language, official language, and international language in Timor Leste. Timor Leste is a new millennium country in the Southeast Asia and the only country that has rectified Portuguese as the co-official language with its national language Tetum since May 20, 2002. However, the language in educational in the country continues to be one of the biggest challenges. The researcher will analyze and investigate two main data; Decree Law No.4/2015, dated January 14^th, and Law No.14/2008, dated October 29^th. This study will be conducted at Instituto São João de Brito, Kassait, Ulmera, Liquiça, Timor Leste. The laws and decree laws and other interrelated laws will be examined and investigated. The researcher mainly focuses on the implementation of these laws and decree laws, and what are the major challenges. The findings will be presented in a table with a detailed description, frequency, and percentage.
