Abstract

Grammar teaching is one of the necessary elements in helping students increase their English competence. The teaching of grammar in schools requires careful planning, taking into account the basic competence mandated in the curriculum. This study described some grammar teaching strategies implemented by the student-teachers in Micro Teaching class. The data were obtained from observations conducted during the teaching practices. The study revealed that most of the students taught grammar separately from the context suggested in the basic competence. However, some grammar teaching practices emphasized on bringing the contexts suggested. The contexts were related to the types of text mentioned in the basic competence. This study also gave some recommendation to help students choose more suitable context related to the teaching grammar.
