Abstract
Perception is one of the important aspects of a learning process since it will determine the students’ interest to learn in the classroom. The teacher should find a good strategy to help the students in learning the materials. The different seating arrangements will influence the learning process. The U-shaped seating arrangement can be applied to help the students achieve their goals in the classroom. This research aims to investigate the students’ perceptions of the use of the U-shaped seating arrangement. The research question is “What are the students’ perceptions about the use of the U-shaped seating arrangement in VII B class of SMP N 1 Sewon?” This research applied the survey research method. The participants of this research were 32 students of VII B class in the SMP N 1 Sewon. Close-ended questionnaire was employed as the instrument to collect data. The questionnaires were distributed to thirty-two students in the selected class. The results of the research showed that the students have a positive perception on the U-shaped seating arrangement. It can be seen from the activeness of the students in the classroom. High school teachers are suggested to use the U-shaped seating arrangement during the learning process.
