Abstract

The pandemic condition has made big effects in the education field including the teachers’ training institution. The shift from offline class to online class brought some challenges for the student teachers to practice their teaching skills in preparation to a minor internship program in schools. This paper explores how the design of the online teaching subjects can help students to prepare themselves in the near future learning condition. There are three objectives, namely (1) exploring some challenges faced by the university students and lecturers in the first three months of the pandemic situation (2) describing models of online activity for the teaching practice, (3) exploring how the activities can help lecturers to develop the students’ teaching skills. Survey research triangulated by document analysis was conducted. It was revealed that the challenges are related to the questioning and reinforcement skills, and classroom management skills. Further, it described the online activities from two teaching classes. They showed the use of technology to facititate the students' teaching practice and the feedback from both the lecturers and the classmates. Finally, those activities prepare them for the blended learning since the focuses covered offline and online teaching skills.
