Abstract

The COVID-19 has affected all aspects of human life across different countries, gender, age, race and profession. Unexpectedly, all institutional activities are transformed to fulfil the academic demands. This pandemic also forces the rapid changes of technologies. Besides exposing humans with technology and advancing their potentials, it also causes various problems among students and teachers. Since there are limitations on the use of the technology, it finally raises tensions, contradictions and ambiguities in the teaching and learning process. Drawing on Engestrom’s (1987) Cultural Historical Activity Theory, this research aims to respond to the challenges found in this online learning system. The data were gathered from forum group discussions, LMS (Learning Management System) and midterm course evaluation. Through this research, the students’ perspectives are expected to evaluate the system and give comprehensive understanding on resolving the issues.
