Abstract

The key to the success of the teachers as lesson designers lies in their agency for learning new technology so that they become competent to adapt to the new era. In this discussion, I report preliminary findings from a qualitative study of teachers' perceptions on teaching and learning amidst the unprecedented change as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and their struggles in learning to become better teachers who are responsive to the student’s needs. The participants of the research were in-service EFL teachers who were attending Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru (The Teacher Professional Education Program). The data were collected from teachers’ written reflections and their posts on the discussion forums on the LMS (Learning Management System) of PPG. The early analysis results reveal that while teachers were willing to learn how to adopt technology in their instruction, they were concerned about their students’ lack of readiness due to limited access to technology. It brings an implication that teachers were expected to adopt low-cost technology to their classroom.
