Abstract


Enriching perspectives in contemporary ELT methodology will be deeper when it is conducted through critical thinking skill. By this skill, teachers will be able to strong and sharp in reading and analyzing issues of ELT. Critical thinking skill is not only viewed as the framework of thinking but also seen as the framework to increase teachers’ capacity in enlarging their views and perspectives about contemporary ELT methodologies. This paper promotes critical thinking skill for teachers in developing their capacity as the ones who are not only involved in the class but also thinkers in the task to design teaching practice in order to respond the local and global need for the success of teaching practice. This is a literature review by reviewing and discussing critical thinking role toward ELT. Finally, critical thinking skill has a contribution for teachers’ capacity in encouraging them to be the ones who have the role in changing ELT aimed to solve teaching problems and its practice.
