Abstract

The present study intends to redesign higher order thinking skills-integrated English lesson plans. There are two research questions addressed, namely (1) how are the lesson plans designed? And (2) what do the redesigned lesson plans look like? The researchers used ADDIE as a method to redesign the lesson plans. The process of ADDIE included Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. There were four instruments used in this study, namely observations, interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The first research question was answered by explaining the steps of designing the lesson plans. The lesson plans were developed based on basic competencies 3.1 and 4.1 (Self-Introduction), 3.2 and 4.2 (Giving Compliments), and 3.3 and 4.3 (Expressing Intention). The answer to the second research question was in the form of presentation of the redesigned lesson plans. The redesigned lesson plans consisted of the identity of the objects, indicators, goals of each meeting, materials, learning method, the media, activities, and assessments. In conclusion, the lesson plans were in line with the standard that the government has. Moreover, the lesson plans were integrated with higher order thinking skills.
