In this current pandemic, we all found ourselves online in a very short time. While this opened up opportunities to reach a wider audience, it has left us teachers with a number of challenges. This session will begin with an overview of challenges in the virtual world such as student engagement, retention and establishing teacher presence.  Appropriate and effective teaching materials can help us address these challenges. We will then explore how existing materials can be adapted to minimise challenges and maximise opportunities. I will share principles and procedures for adapting materials and share examples for adapting materials for language learning activities.
