Abstract

Some believe that specifying learning materials in a certain field without having different materials from other fields is needed in order to master the knowledge of that field well. For example, students who study education should focus only on educational subjects. On the contrary, this paper aims to underline the importance of learning literature in an education study program by giving some real practices. Beside cultivating students’ compassion and conscience, some selected literary works can also be a medium to learn some educational theories. This paper shows some proofs that literature can have a close connection to education based on comprehensive approach proposed by Bloemert, et al. (2017). There are three selected literary works discussed in Prose course, namely: “Miss Awful”, “The Little Girl at The Window” and “The Jungle School”. Some practices that have been done to bridge literature and education are related to a reader approach.
