Abstract


Folklore as a part of oral literary works has a big role in teaching a life lesson for the society where it belongs. Kisah Tabi, Tabai dan Tabob di Nu’Fit is one of the popular folklore from Kei Island in Southeast Maluku. This paper aims to elaborate the human domination through nature in Kisah Tabi, Tabai dan Tabob di Nu’Fit. In addition, this paper focuses on how nature is affected by human action as represented in this story. Furthermore, qualitative method is applied in order to collect the data for this paper. In depth reading is applied in order to examine the human domination in the story, some related sources are also collected in order to enrich the findings. Based on the analysis, this paper finds out that there is strong connection between human and nature in the story. It can be depicted from how the characters of the story control the nature. Unfortunately this strong relationship also leads human to dominate the nature. This domination can be seen from how Tabai breaks his promise and kills the turtle. However, this paper only focus on the depiction of human domination through the story. It is also important to examine how this folklore shapes the society awareness about the nature.
