NEED ANALYSIS OF INTEGRATED POP-UP BOOK DESIGN OF IPA AND ENGLISH LEARNING MEDIA

Abstract


This study aims to collect preliminary information related to the needs of learning media for elementary school students. The results of this need analysis are then used to design a pop-up book learning media for integrated science learning (IPA) and English in elementary schools. The needs analysis is carried out through literature studies and field studies. Literature Study Literature study is conducted to collect information about the concepts of IPA in the 1st semester of the 5th-grade students. The results of the concept analysis on the material of animal and human movement organs showed that 72% of concepts are abstract, 24% are concrete concepts, and 4% are based on principles. Field studies are conducted to collect information about the learning process in the classroom and the media used. The results of the needs analysis of 84 respondents show that there have never been an integrated pop-up book learning media of IPA and English previously, 75% of respondents like English lesson, 81% of respondents like IPA lesson, 86% agree that English should be integrated with other subjects, 90% of respondents agree that science books should be integrated with English. Regarding pop-up books, only 13% of respondents have used pop-up books before, 77% of respondents have no prior knowledge about pop-up books, and 83% of respondents agree and are interested in using integrated IPA and English pop-up books. The results of the literature study and field studies indicate that it is necessary to develop an integrated IPA English pop-up book learning media.
