Abstract

A partner of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Teacher Development Program (TDP) of Sanata Dharma University follows a set of highly structured activities as required in the mandatory Moodle-based Learning Management Systems. Rigid scheduling, prescribed goals, mandatory learning materials, and prescribed evaluation are already fixed, creating a highly contrived space. In reality, however, there are rooms for experimentations. This presentation is set to reveal how Group 5 attempted to negotiate with prescriptions by elaborating two major principles, namely authenticity and accountability. Five teachers involved in the Group 5 were found to have undergone both schematic and perspectival transformations. Empirical data suggest that perspectival transformations appeared to have stimulated renewed sense of moral purposes as teachers. Schematic transformations appeared to have encouraged them to adopt technological tools. Future challenges appear to remain uncertain among these teachers, given the fact that teaching is highly influenced by ecological considerations in their respective schools.
