Abstract

This study sets out to embark on investigating perceived challenges and opportunities, as well as perceived impacts of policies (such as curricular ones) to mitigate the complex implications of Pandemic COVID-19 for the first year of USD students Batch 2020. Data gathering involves surveys distributed to both students and lecturers and FGDs conducted with a selected group of students and lecturers. Data analysis of the survey results is accomplished through descriptive statistics so as to portray perceived impacts among students and lecturers. Analysis of the qualitative data gained from a series of FGDs is done through multiple readings of the transcripts to obtain thematic units. To obtain well-founded claims, the former type of data is then validated with the latter data. This research goal goes along well with the third point of Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPs), i.e. journeying with the youth, as well as the four major core values of SDU and that of the Teachers Training and Education Faculty (TTEF). The results of the research are meant to contribute to the TTEF and other education practitioners.
