Abstract

Anxiety is a psychological response when a body senses a stressful situation such as fear and feelings of uncertain things. This research analyzed several anxiety symbols in Jihoon’s character and related them to his childhood trauma using qualitative approach. The analysis is based on Sigmund Freud (1923) theory of anxiety. It is found that Jihoon’s anxiety is caused by his childhood trauma due to his abusive father. His anxiety is manifested into a stage fear during his musical performance which often makes him feels breathless and sweats profusely. Jihoon’s anxiety can be categorized into three types of anxiety in which neurotic anxiety is the type of anxiety that appears most frequently, while the least frequent one is moral anxiety. It proves that there is a close relationship between childhood trauma and anxiety. This research sheds light on the importance of taking care of childhood parenting.
