INVESTIGATING PHARMACY VOCATIONAL STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVES OF THE IMPACT IN LEARNING ENGLISH USING ELT TEXTBOOK

Abstract


This study aims to identify what ELT curriculum policies are implemented in the Indonesian vocational senior high school and investigate what vocational students think about the ELT learning materials in textbook that they use in learning English and the impacts for them. 5 students in the third year of a pharmacy vocational school were participating in this research and they were interviewed to examine their perspectives in detail. The result of interviews was analysed using the framework of knowledge, views, understandings, interpretations, and experiences on the aspects of ELT textbook. The result showed that not all students are satisfied with the ELT textbook that they have learnt at school. Some of the students stated that they need specific English materials related to the pharmacy context, particularly some registers that support the students’ future career.
