Abstract

This study explores the presence of burnout among students enrolled in the Javanese Language Study Program while engaging with English literature texts. Burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment, has been extensively studied in various contexts; however, its manifestation within the unique environment of a Javanese Language Study Program remains unexplored. A survey will be employed, combining interviews and questionnaires. The qualitative phase will involve semi-structured interviews with a diverse sample of Javanese Language students. The quantitative phase will employ 20 statements divided into four domains of spiritual well-being (Personal, Communal, Environmental, and Transcendental). Moreover, the last section of the questionnaire will adapt questions regarding the burnout scale adapted from Maslach Burnout Inventory. The implications of this research extend to the growing body of literature on burnout in education while offering insights into the specific dynamics of burnout within the context of the Javanese Language Study Program.
