Designing a Language Project to Promote Digital Literacy and Resilience for Junior High School Students in Writing Classes

Abstract


The development of digital classroom presents sufficient opportunities for students to improve needed skills for their future careers. Regardless, there are certain concerns raised between educators about the importance of teaching students about digital literacy, digital citizenship and digital resilience to prepare the students for future challenges. The aim for this article is to show how through language classes, language teacher can enrich students’ digital literacy and digital resilience for the future digital world.

The methodology followed is based on the WebQuests and project learning. These pedagogical methods to promote critical thinking skills, extensive reading skills, writing skills and digital awareness and digital literacy. There were 200 junior high school students who were observed in 2022 and 2023.

In conclusion, the language writing project extended positive impact in increasing students’ sense of digital literacy; a critical skills for a safe, favorable and adaptable digital users.
