Abstract

Students utilise Instagram to revive and commemorate their indigenous languages to develop a multilingual identity. With a focus on language metafunctions, this study examines semiotic genres, photographs, and captions in selected samples using Multimodal Critical Discourse Analysis (MCDA). Evaluation of how these elements convey messages is the goal. Based on these examples, Instagram is an effective medium for organic reading skill acquisition and multilingual self-expression. The findings show that students' linguistic backgrounds are evident in their innovative quotations, underlining the complexity of language. The virtual representation was endorsed by several followers who actively used indigenous language. Thus, exhibiting indigenous languages on Instagram may inspire pupils to take pride in their language heritage. In turn, this can improve the language and help kids become multilingual.
