Abstract


This study aims at exploring the use of Vocaroo.com for encouraging peer-feedback in a group of students in English Language Education department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember in an argumentative speaking class. This qualitative inquiry employed different data sources, including the students’ speaking assignment using Vocaroo.com, audio recordings of students’ peer feedback, students’ self-reflection sheet, and interview transcripts. The study highlighted three different themes from the findings; (i) improved metacognitive awareness of speaking, (ii) enhanced understanding of feedback, and (iii) improved feedback delivery skills. The students valued Vocaroo as a helpful tool for learning speaking. In addition to the practicality, the students could do self-evaluation using the audio-recorded speaking. They also think that using Vocaroo when giving and receiving feedback is practical because they as both reviewers and receivers of feedback have enough time to prepare and understand the speaking at their own pace.
