In social life, people use a language as a tool to communicate with others. In having communication with others, people may use linguistic expressions in the forms of slang words. This study identified the types and functions of slang words in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire movie. Document and content analysis were used to conduct the study. This study employed theory proposed by Zhou & Fan (2013). The findings revealed that the characters mostly use "creative" as the type of slang and "pursuing self-identity" as the function of slang instead of the other types and functions. In the movie, 22 out of 38 words are classified into "creative" and 22 out of 38 words are classified into "pursuing self-identity." The result shows that the slang words are frequently used in the utterances of teenagers.
