This research aims to analyse the type and the most dominant type of figurative language in Highway Times short story by Jennifer Jenkinson. The methodology of this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences taken from the Highway Times short stories by Jennifer Jenkinson. After gathering the data, it will be analysed or classified based on the figurative language type theory of Perrine and presented in table of figurative types percentage. Based on the analysis the researcher found 37 data which contain figurative language. There are 7 types of figurative language in Highway Times short story by Jennifer Jenkinson. Simile appears 27.03%. Personification appears 50.54%. Metaphor appears 16.22%. Hyperbole appears 2.70%. Synecdoche appears 8.11%. Understatement appears 2.70% and Irony appears 2.70%. The most dominant type of figurative language in Highway Time short story by Jennifer Jenkinson is Personification.
