The instant and practical use of AI generative tools may interest the students to seek for information from. This study explored the extent to which the generative AI tools contributed to the teaching preparations done by the student teachers. The data were collected through a survey to students of Micro Teaching classes in the English Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University. The questionnaire related to the use of AI generative tools and also the challenges of using them were given to the respondents. The findings of the study revealed that the student teachers used generative AI tools, among others, to prepare the teaching for making the materials and media they used for teaching. The implications of the study are related to the roles of the facilitators in relation to guiding the students to have better approach in using the generative AI tools.
