Abstract
This paper discusses the instalment of the culture of student workload (SWL) at the English Education Study Program at Sanata Dharma University. The culture of student workload refers to measuring the actual time spent by students to complete tasks required by a particular course, both in the class and outside. Failing to accurately measure the actual time spent by students might lead to risking student’s well-being. This paper reports the initial incorporation of the culture of students’ workload at the English Education Study Program at Sanata Dharma University. The research project was part of the CALOHEA (Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Asia) project, a project dedicated to comparing and measuring learning outcomes of universities in Southeast Asia and Europe for better student mobility and employability of graduates. It has three recognition mechanisms namely, the creation and use of regional subject-specific qualifications and assessment reference, the instalment of the culture of SWL measurement, and the implementation of authentic assessment.
