Abstract
Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) becomes a term that is increasingly referred to in the 21st century education era because it is considered as one of the 21st century skills. One element of changes in the 2013 curriculum for primary and secondary education is strengthening HOTS in the learning process. HOTS is a student's thinking pattern by relying on the ability to analyze, create, and evaluate all aspects and problems. In the revised Bloom's Taxonomy, higher-order thinking skills involve analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) which are considered as high-level thinking. As prospective educators in the 21st century era, teacher educators must be able to make students think critically and creatively which is shown through the ability to solve HOTS-oriented problems. Various studies show that students are not used to working on HOTS-oriented questions. The study was conducted on 48 students participating in high school mathematics and vocational high school learning. Exploration of students’ HOTS profiles was conducted by using test and interview methods after obtaining learning facilitation. The results obtained are expected to provide insights into the HOTS profile of the students, so that it can facilitate a proper learning to develop it.
