Abstract
This study aims to provide evidence of whether or not the implementation of direct instruction in Economic Development subject matter can be enhancing students learning activities and responsibilities of Class XI IPA5 at SMAN 7 Yogyakarta. The study is a Class Action Research collaboration of teachers and lecturers held in September-October 2018 in SMA N 7 Yogyakarta. This research was carried out in two cycles. Data were analyzed by descriptive and comparative analysis. For learning activities of students of class XI IPA5 the results were obtained: the lowest score in the pre-research stage was 42, cycle 1 stage was 51, cycle 2 stage was 54; the highest score in the pre- research stage was 83, cycle 1 stage was 87, cycle 2 stage was 82. The average score of students in class XI IPA5 at the pre-research stage was 62.03, cycle 1 stage was 69.06 and cycle 2 stage was 69.31. For the responsibility of students of class XI IPA5 the results were obtained: the lowest score in the pre-research stage was 23, cycle 1 stage was 23, cycle 2 stage was 25; the highest score in the pre-study stage was 30, cycle 1 stage was 33, cycle 2 stage was 32. The average score of the responsibility of students in class XI IPA5 at the pre-research stage was 26.39, in cycle 1 stage was 27.10 and in cycle 2 stage was 27.14. Based on the categories in the frequency distribution table, the pre-research phase of the learning activity variable was 68% low, cycle 1 was 32% high and cycle 2 was 48% moderate, and the variable responsibility for the pre-research stage was 45% medium, cycle 1 was 58% high and cycle 2 of 72% high it appears that there is an increase in the category to a higher direction. By looking at the average score of student learning activities and responsibilities that tend to increase and the increase in categories in the frequency distribution table that the higher direction, it can be concluded that the implementation of direct instruction in subject matter of Economic Development can improve learning activities and responsibilities of students of Class XI IPA5 in SMAN 7 Yogyakarta Academic Year 2018-2019.
