Abstract

Solidarity is a value rooted in the understanding and commitment of faith to respond to and seek solutions to concrete human life issues for the development of life together. Solidarity is also one of the values and practices of Church life that has been understood and inherited by Jesus and his disciples. Therefore, solidarity becomes an important theme in the reflection of the life of the faithful. However, as time passes, the value of solidarity is increasingly fading and eroded by the currents of the times.

In the context of the fading value of solidarity in post-modern human society, Pope Francis, in his pastoral vision, urges the faithful to internalize and cultivate the value of solidarity, especially towards those who are small, poor, oppressed, and forgotten. Thus, this research focuses on exploring Pope Francis's ideas about solidarity towards the poor. The research method used is a qualitative literature study method with a descriptive analysis approach. In-depth analysis is applied to Pope Francis's ideas of solidarity towards the poor to discover and explore the meaning of solidarity. Then, based on the results of the analysis, the author formulates Pope Francis's ideas into principles and proposed forms of pastoral solidarity programs for the poor.

The results of the study show that the reflection and ideas about solidarity from Pope Francis can contribute to theological reflection and become a priority value that can be lived and understood within the framework of means of faith accountability and salvation in the midst of community life..
