Abstract

Researchers were inspired to investigate compassionate pastoral care for patients of all faiths after meeting them at Panti Rapih Catholic hospital.  God's compassion extends to everyone, regardless of their religious background or beliefs.  Catholic hospitals hold to the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 22:39) that all persons are creations of 'one God'.  All persons were compassionately made by ‘the one God,’ according to the Council of Nicaea in 325.  The purpose of this research is to determine the efforts Catholic hospitals make to accommodate patients with varying faith convictions. The study was conducted in Panti Rapih Catholic Hospital in Yogyakarta using a qualitative research methodology that included descriptive analysis, participant observation, and in-depth interviews.  It is anticipated that this compassionate pastoral care will help patients realize that compassion is not limited by religion and can bring about social harmony.  The study's conclusions show how crucial it is to provide non-Catholic patients with compassionate pastoral care to enhance their spiritual health.  The clergy's pastoral care at Panti Rapih Hospital greatly enhances patients' spiritual wellbeing and offers them spiritual support that gives them hope for the future while they heal.  This research also highlights the value of interreligious-ecumenical collaboration and compassionate pastoral care in promoting the spiritual wellbeing of ill patients.
