Abstract

Community prayer, which typically occurs at the parish's smallest unit, is one type of prayer that Catholics are quite familiar with.  Community prayer has the potential to significantly increase the congregation's involvement in local church life for Catholics at St. John the Apostle Station, Sukandebi, which is a part of St. Mary Parish, Maria Bunda Karmel Tigalingga.  Community prayer is a pleasant setting for everyone to participate actively because of the group's lower size and the more intimate ambiance.  In addition to being a way to get closer to God, the prayer that is held in the parish's smallest unit is also a powerful way to boost the congregation's engagement with the local Church community. The Creed of Nicaea, which emphasized that "the Church is a holy community," and that each member is called to actively engage in it, is closely tied to this.  How does the parish of St. Maria Bunda Karmel Tigalingga's community prayer enable the congregation in the St. John the Apostle Sukandebi area to become ‘spiritually mobile’?  This study examines the Nicene Creed's definition of the "holy Church" as well as the connection between holiness in the Church and common prayer from Pope Francis' point of view. The holiness of the Church "is not only a divine nature inherent in it, but is also manifested through the real actions and attitudes of each Christian," according to the Council of Nicae.  It stated that "Christ sanctified the Church, and every member of the Church is invited to participate in the holiness of the Church through a daily life full of faith."  In Gaudete et Exultate, Pope Francis stated that "there is no holiness without prayer."  People who participate in community prayer "go forth" in their ecclesial and even social engagements because it provides ‘spiritual mobility.’
