Abstract

Anecdotal evidence of the impacts of the COVID-19 on college students suggests that the majority of them found the pandemic very devastating. The absence of direct encounters with their colleagues and lecturers and inadequate tools to support online learning were among major reasons why learning during the pandemic era has been a challenge. This study investigates students majoring in the language in order to reveal how these students dealt with the learning during this very context. To gather the data, an online survey is distributed to 50 - 80 students so as to measure whether they demonstrate a growth mindset or not. A series of in-depth interviews are conducted to elaborate on their views. This study is expected to add a layer on the scholarships around learning during the pandemic era, especially among those language students.
