Abstract


This research aims to analyse Javanese and English's figurative language regarding daily use. There are several types of figurative language in both languages, and this paper will focus on metaphor language. Later, this paper will examine the differences and the similarities of metaphor language in daily speaking for both native speakers that come from a different culture. The data were taken fromĀ Kawruh Pepak Basa Jawa and observing the daily life of the native speakers. The participant and non-participant method is used in this paper to assemble the data. And it seems that there are similarities in the use of metaphor itself in a particular language based on human cognition. The data show that there are some differences in daily use from both the Javanese and English language.
