Abstract

This paper aims to find out the types of code-mixing and code-switching, as well as to find out the reasons for bilinguals and multilingual to do code-switching and/or code-mixing in using the language they master when communicating so that the public can better understand the types of code-switching and code-mixing, and understand the use of these codes in the use of language when communicating. The method used in this research is to use the Conversation Analysis method, where the data collection process is carried out by transcribing the video to be analyzed. Through the results of the study, it can be concluded that communicating using code-switching and code-mixing becomes more effective in achieving the target of the conversation because it will be easier for them to talk about certain topics, interjection, clarify the content of the other person's speech, and express certain feelings.
