GLOBAL RESEARCH TREND IN LANGUAGE USE IN DIGITAL COMMUNICATION FOR EFL TEACHING AND LEARNING: A SYSTEMATIC BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

Abstract


The use of digital communication technology in the learning process, but the worldwide research trends in language use in digital communication for EFL Teaching & Learning in the world are unclear. This bibliometric analysis aimed to investigate trends in language use in digital communication for EFL teaching and learning. The researcher used VOSviewer software to analyse and visualize the trend. Then, the researcher searched the Web of Language database. A bibliometric analysis of 1,200 articles was conducted. While the number of publications per year was relatively stable, the number of citations is decrease exponentially from 1,101 in 2016 to 10 in 2022. Articles come from 77 countries, with the majority from the United States. The Journal of Behavioral and Brain Sciences and University of Copenhagen are the journals and institutions with the highest number of publications, respectively. These articles mainly involve language use, and EFL teaching & learning, digital communication.
