WELDING FIXTURE FOR FRONT AND REAR SEGMENT OF PROTOTYPE VEHICLE CHASSIS
Last modified: 2022-09-24
Abstract
The prototype vehicle’s chassis segment is made from several aluminum profiles and sheets that are welded together. The welding process can cause parts to warp. A welding fixture is needed to secure the geometry points of parts. Secured geometry point is a key factor in vehicle stability. Welding fixtures design is derived from actual parts design via CAD software. The reconfigurable feature is important in this design process. A simple fabrication process and industrial standard component usage to design the welding fixtures are also taken as a major concern. This study delivers a proposal for welding fixtures design for the prototype vehicle chassis’ front and rear segments.
