DEVELOPMENT OF HOTS QUESTIONS ON NEARPOD-BASED VIRUS MATERIAL FOR CLASS XI

Abstract


The challenges of the 21st century need to be answered by preparing quality human resources. In this case teachers play an important role through HOTS learning which has been included in the 2013 Curriculum. The needs analysis in six high schools in Yogyakarta found that biology teachers still need assistance in developing HOTS questions. One of the requirements is on virus material. The development of this product needs to be application-based to keep up with the latest technological developments. The purpose of this study is to develop HOTS questions that are integrated with the Nearpod application on virus material and determine the level of feasibility. The research method uses the Sugiyono Research and Development model which is carried out until the design revision stage. This study resulted 30 HOTS questions in the form of multiple choice and five answer choices that are integrated in the Nearpod application. The validation results show that the average percentage of media and questions development is 93.1% and 94.1%, respectively. This study concludes that the HOTS questions based on the Nearpod application are included in the "very feasible" criteria and can be tested on a limited scale with improvements according to the validator's suggestions.
