Abstract
This study explores how book clubs can enhance adolescents' interest in reading and develop their critical thinking skills, potentially shaping future educational environments. Specifically, it focuses on middle adolescence, involving participants aged 15-18 years old. The goals of this research are to investigate how book clubs influence Indonesian adolescents' interest in reading and the development of their critical thinking skills, and to determine the potential of these clubs to shape future educational environments in Indonesia. Using a phenomenological approach, this study uses qualitative methods such as interviews and observations to understand adolescents' experiences, interpretations, motivations, and perceived outcomes of participating in a reading club. This research argues that a stimulating, engaging and interactive reading and discussion environment can significantly increase reading interest among middle adolescents. Therefore, book clubs can be a strategy for formal education institutions to foster students' interest in reading and discussion.
