Abstract
This research, which relates to the history of Sultan Muhammad Idrus' leadership, departs from the problems that show the distance between theory, values and a set of other moral rules and their embodiment in social life, especially the Buton community. Therefore, this research aims to find the basic causes of these problems and find answers to these problems. This research is a type of pragmatic ethics and philosophy of history research, using a qualitative approach, and emphasizing on literature studies. In the data processing process, several methodological elements are used, including; interpretation, inductive and deductive combination, internal coherence, comprehensive and descriptive. As a result of the preliminary research, the following hypotheses can be put forward: 1) Humans need the concept of moral virtues within themselves to continue to be good human beings, 2) The concept of moral virtue can be found in the teachings and history of the past, and 3) For the Buton people, the concept of moral virtue can be found through the history of the leadership of Sultan Muhammad Idrus Kaimuddin, and 4) from the history of leadership, can draw values, moral teachings and simple moral principles that can help the Buton people have a good personality.
