Abstract

Swimming medley relay is one of the sports that is often competed in national and international competitions. To get the best time, coaches need to pay attention to the composition of relay swimmers by considering speed and expertise of each athlete in each style. This study aims to determine the composition of swimmers in swimming medley relay so that the fastest time is obtained. This research data is secondary data obtained from World Aquatics, namely time records of five Indonesian female swimmers for each style (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly style). The composition of the swimmers and the fastest time were determined using the Hungarian method. The results of this study are as follows. The combination of athletes that produced the fastest time was: swimmer 1 assigned butterfly, swimmer 2 assigned backstroke, swimmer 5 assigned breaststroke and swimmer 3 assigned freestyle. The fastest time obtained was 247.30 seconds.
