Abstract


Montessori learning provides opportunities for children to develop independently, have a desire to try and learn regularly and creates a fun atmosphere for children. In reality, Montessori learning can educate children from learning while playing with new and challenging things. In learning while playing, children find difficulties and solutions to overcome the problems they face. Based on these facts, Montessori-based learning can be an alternative for improving children's character education in elementary school. Montessori learning is also able to build collaboration and teamwork. In addition, it helps enhance the children’s abilities. One of the results of Montessori-based learning is the development of character traits such as curiosity, independence, fidelity, hard work, honesty, patience, communication, self-confidence, open-mindedness, responsibility, and optimism.
