Abstract
Interreligious dialogue in Yogyakarta still needs to be developed. In recent years (2017-2020) there were actions of intolerance in various regions in Yogyakarta. This study aimed to develop dialogue between religious communities by exploring inspiration from Pope Francis. This research applied a qualitative method through a study of documents and in-depth interviews. Researchers reviewed the strategic plan of the Ministry of Religion in Yogyakarta (2020-2024) and documents issued by Pope Francis, as well as interviewing 7 informants with various religious background. The results showed that interreligious dialogue in Yogyakarta was good because there was an increase in the quality of harmony between religious communities. Interreligious dialogue is a meeting to find the truth and live love in realizing peace and brotherhood in Yogyakarta. Some inspiration from Pope Francis to develop dialogue between religious communities, for example interreligious dialogue needs to touch the personal spaces of the participants, not only at the level of teachings; Dialogue needs to be realized in service to marginalized people to build a better society. Religious leaders should have a humble attitude in dialogue. The community is expected to be able to accept differences and the government is expected to more often carry out interreligious dialogue.
