Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of exports, imports, and money supply on the exchange rate of the Rupiah in Indonesia. By using multiple linear regression method and time series data during the period 1994 to 2023. The results showed that the export and money supply variables have a significant positive effect on the Rupiah exchange rate. In contrast, the import variable has a significant negative effect on the Rupiah exchange rate. This finding is consistent with macroeconomic theory which states that an increase in exports and money supply leads to exchange rate appreciation, while an increase in imports leads to exchange rate depreciation. This research provides a link that government policies in increasing exports and managing the money supply are very important in supporting the stability and strengthening of the Rupiah exchange rate. On the other hand, import-related policies should be reviewed to reduce their negative impact on the exchange rate. The results of this study are expected to be taken into consideration for policy makers in designing more effective macroeconomic strategies to strengthen the national currency.
