JUNIOR SECONDARY TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS FOR EACH GENERATION ON THE ADOPTION OF AI TO ASSIST ASSESSMENTS

Abstract
In this digital age, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing rapidly. Many sectors utilize AI to streamline work, particularly in the field of education. Teachers face various challenges at work, including a lack of tools, administrative burdens, teacher readiness, and assessment skills. Additionally, the use of AI has made work more effective and efficient. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate junior secondary teachers' perceptions of the adoption and integration of generative AI tools to assist in authentic assessments. This study employed a qualitative research design, utilizing a library study approach to gain insight into participants' perspectives. Data were collected through interviews and focus group discussions to ensure comprehensive coverage. This qualitative study involving 3 teachers from Generation X and 5 teachers from Generation Z was based on stratified random sampling. Moreover, the researchers used thematic data analysis to summarize data points with 8 teachers at SMP Yos Sudarso Metro who contributed to this study. Results showed that a variety of AI tools were used by both generations of teachers to assist with assessments.
