Abstract

Liberation theology aims to rescue theology from its obsession with theological-intellectual matters and prioritise orthopraxis, which is how to communicate God's message to the poor and marginalised. According to Pedro Casaldáliga, a prominent liberation theologian, authentic faith manifests through daily practices promoting freedom. Liberation theology encompasses all aspects of human life, encompassing the harsh realities of poverty, corrupt regimes, capitalist oppression, and an indecisive Church. However, the theological reflection of Casaldaliga's liberation does not become arbitrary. There is a strong correlation between the struggle for liberation and the Christian faith's foundations, including Jesus's historicity, the Incarnation as God's motivation, the Cross, and the Trinity's love. This article aims to investigate the theology of liberation of Pedro Casaldáliga.

Key words: Historicity of Jesus, Poverty, Pedro Casaldáliga, Social-Politics, Liberation Theology.
