Abstract
This journal will discusses the moral degradation in Toraja society triggered by the practices of cockfighting gambling, buffalo fighting, and online gambling. Using Clifford Geertz's interpretive approach, the study explores the cultural and symbolic meanings behind these gambling activities and how they affect the social order and moral values of the community. Additionally, John Rawls' theory of justice is employed to analyze the injustice and social imbalance arising from these gambling practices, including their impact on the welfare and rights of individuals within the community. The findings reveal that gambling not only damages individual morality but also threatens social solidarity and distributive justice in Toraja society, highlighting the need for cultural interventions and social justice-based policies to address this moral decay.
