Abstract

This study examines the philosophical meaning of proverbs from two Indonesian cultures, namely “Larondon Lulangnganrika tu Dongkayu” (Toraja) and “Taan Kakan Noo Arin. Ake Pewoke Geni” (Lamaholot). The main issue is the decline in young people's understanding of the noble values in these proverbs, which has led to a fading appreciation of values within families and society at large. The purpose of this study is to explore the philosophical meaning, value connections, and moral messages of these two proverbs that are relevant to modern society, especially young people. The methods used were literature study and interviews with cultural figures. The results showed that both proverbs contain noble values such as exemplary behavior, integrity, morality, and responsibility. These values are relevant for building harmonious relationships in modern society. This study encourages young people to preserve and appreciate the values of their ancestors for the sake of cultural continuity.
