These proverbs, passed down from generation to generation, serve as guidelines for life, a means of moral education, and a reminder of humanity's connection to nature and to each other. In this study, two proverbs from different cultures are examined and compared to discover universal messages applicable to modern life. These two proverbs are the Dayak proverb "Tege Danum Tege Lauk," meaning "Where There's Water, There's Fish," and the Asumanu proverb "Sirisu Malo nu'u ata, Ma Malo nu'u dato," meaning "Work Like a Servant, Eat Like a King."The relevance of these two proverbs is particularly evident in the modern context. Dayak proverbs can be read as a critique of the worsening environmental damage caused by overexploitation. The younger generation is often trapped in a lifestyle without ecological awareness, even though human survival depends heavily on environmental sustainability. Meanwhile, the Asumanu proverb highlights the problem of instant gratification and the decline of the hard work ethic in today's society. In the modern era, many people want quick results without going through a lengthy process. This proverb reminds us that worthy results can only be achieved through dedication, patience, and perseverance. Both proverbs teach an awareness of the importance of human effort in achieving a balanced life. Keywords: Traditional Proverb, Philosophy of Life, Local Wisdom, Dayak Tribe, Asumanu Tribe.
